Research Program
P2-0123 Clothing Engineering and Textile Materials
The theme of the research program Clothing engineering and textile materials is based on three interrelated areas:
a) study of the mechanical behaviour of flexible materials,
b) comprehensive study of clothing comfort and
c) the development of high-performance and / or intelligent clothing,
and is directly in line with international research streams or the issues of priority areas of the European Technology Platform for the future of the textile and clothing industry and the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020.
Within the framework of the research program in the past five-year complex deformation of textile structures were studied and as a result we find out that specific geometry of the textile’s drape is result of its anisotropic properties and requires more in-depth research of relevant rheological parameters and mechanical models. We have successfully launched the study of thermal-physiological comfort during clothing wear as well as research of its comprehensive concept. Although already conducted research did not resolve all problems with clothing comfort this theme is and will be in the focus of researchers mainly in the field of functional protective and/or intelligent clothing and its testing.
Having in mind presented knowledge an upgrade research on textiles mechanics will be done in order to acquire new theoretical knowledge on the complex behaviour of textile structures that will serve to analyse and describe the behaviour of fabrics in the case of simple and complex deformation. The second strand of research focuses on the study of specific requirements to ensure clothing comfort of conventional and functional clothing and / or intelligent clothing, while the third part of research is directly related to the results of the previous parts e.g. the findings related to total clothing comfort that might or is focused on developing high- / or intelligent clothing.
