RICDOI focuses on learning creative processes of creation, design and engineering skills to enable creativity. It is and an important element in the design, co-creation and implementation of the design study and textile materials.
The study program Design and Textile Materials was formally launched at the Faculty of mechanical Engineering, University of Maribor in the year 2006/2007. Its genesis, however, dates back to 1959, to the time of establishing the Higher Technical School in Maribor.
Textile study has been organized since 1996 in the form of university-level study programs Textiles (with directions: Textile Engineering, Eco-Textile Engineering, Clothing Engineering and Engineering Management) and the professional – level program Textiles with the directions Textile Technology and Clothing Technology.
During the academic year 2006/2007 Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in accordance with the Bologna Process, launched a new program, the first after the Bologna Declaration, namely the undergraduate university-level study program Design and Textile Materials with two fields of study: Engineering Design of Textile Materials and Textile Materials.
